Kscope 2014 Summary – It’s time to talk Cloud and Mobile!
So as always we begin with the basics, be sure to checkout the AuraPlayer family photo album of all of you who joined us for a toast throughout Kscope14. My Kscope in pictures.

If possible, this year at Kscope was even better than last year. One of the most exciting things for me was the buzz around Oracle Mobile Cloud Services and the Mobile Application Framework announcements, they were definitely the hot topics. It is nice to know that AuraPlayer, overtime is only becoming more and more relevant as Oracles’ future vision of mobile cloud take shape. It was great once again that we had our booth so we got to talk in person to members of the Forms community all about the modernization of Oracle Forms, and of course toasting to the future with a few Washington Apple shots. Having the chance to meet with customers who have real business problems and seeing that we can help is always a nice bonus to the conference agenda.
The excitement lasted the whole conference and everyone was thrilled to learn that Oracle has released a new Mobile Application Framework (MAF). MAF was released by Oracle as a faster and easier way to develop, build and deploy secure mobile applications. The upgrades available with MAF allow customers to use mobile applications with access to on-premise, cloud and other mobile services. It was this announcement more than anything else that brought the importance of Mobile into the spotlight at Kscope14.
Another great part of Kscope for me was working very closely with Oracle Product Manager, Michael Ferrante. Michael was kind enough to hold office hours at the AuraPlayer booth each day to meet wirth customers and reassure them that Oracle Forms is here to stay. At the booth he answered questions and concerns about Oracle Forms and discussed the future. He also expanded on the new features available in Oracle Forms 12c and beyond, and let me just say, there are exciting developments to come!
A big chance for me this year was being a member of the ODTUG Board. This position gave me an entirely new perspective on Kscope and all of the hard work that goes into planning and executing this amazing conference. I’m really looking forward to Kscope15 where I hope to play an even bigger role to help increase the ADF / Mobile /Cloud communities. My hope for next year is to bring the future of Cloud and Mobile into the spotlight. If you have any suggestions for content you’d like to hear about or others ways we can increase the communities at Kscope15 please let me know.
All of these experiences made Kscope14 such a memorable experience, but I think the cherry on top was of course being awarded an Oracle ACE Director. Boy was I in for a surprise when on Monday they pulled me up on stage to bestow this high honor upon me. I was pretty much speechless with my face bright red. It was so gratifying to see my work in the Oracle Forms and Mobile community recognized. I also would like to say a special thanks to all of YOU my readers of this blog; without your continued interest and support this award would never have become a reality.
I can’t wait to see where we are by Kscope15! Here’s to another great year with Oracle Forms / Mobile and cloud!
