Hot Off The Press – Oracle Forms Now Supports Oracle’s Autonomous Database
Last night was the age-old tradition of the Oracle Ace briefing that was usually held at Oracle Open World, but this year because of COVID-19, it was held digitally. As we were hearing all about the incredible innovations for Oracle’s Autonomous Database, the topic came up, will Oracle Forms be supported on this platform? This caused a lively debate between all the participants if people actually use Oracle Forms. (See our blog post here for our response on that front.) 😉
But once again, the crowd seemed highly doubtful that Oracle Forms would keep up with the times and modernize with the rest of Oracle solutions to the cloud. This of course caused curiosity from our team as well. So once again, we went straight to the source and after a quick talk with Michael Ferrante, Oracle Forms Product Manager, we are proud to announce that Oracle Forms 12.2.1.4 supports Oracle’s Autonomous Database: Dedicated only. See the full support matrix here.
This is further proof of what we’ve been saying all along. Oracle Forms is in no way on its way out to pasture. Actually quite the opposite, Oracle is taking great strides to keep Oracle Forms updated, moving forward, providing support, and adding to the set of supported products on its next-generation databases. For full details on Oracle’s support, you can check out our blog post here on the quick guide to Oracle Forms certification.
As always we’ll keep you up to date with Oracle Forms news.
