Robotic Process AutomationRobotic Process Automation (RPA) is an evolving technology that uses software “robots” or “bots” to run complex business processes.

Bots communicate directly with the application’s user interface (UI) to streamline workloads, resulting in lower costs and increased performance by eliminating manual and repetitive tasks and reducing errors.

Why RPA?

RPA has proven most effective with mission-critical back-office systems, such as Oracle EBS and those developed using Oracle Forms. RPA, and other modernization solutions for Oracle EBS and Forms, are broadly applicable across business processes. Some of the most common use cases are:

  • Payroll processing includes repetitive workflows. Tasks that are often done manually can be semi- or fully automated, such as consolidating employee information with timesheets, calculating salary and benefits, generating pay slips, transferring funds, and updating financial records.
  • Sales competition analysis includes compiling price comparisons of featured products over a specific period by management using online sources, at a regular frequency. This task can be automated to “run in the background” and can also be improved to provide real-time measurements and forecasting features.

These are just two common examples of how RPA can be used to make business processes more efficient, but when it comes to use cases, the possibilities are endless.

What is RPA

Robotic Process Automation Benefits

Automation is constantly evolving, as are the benefits it brings. RPA has been proven to increase:

  • processing speed
  • opportunities for employees to engage in higher-level functions
  • data accuracy
  • capacity for combined flows that merge multiple business flows into a single process predicated on set rules and data
  • efficiency in workflow scheduling and monitoring
  • scalability in automation processing once deployed

Another incentive for implementing RPA is its scalability; once there is one workflow deployed, it’s easy to scale-up to include additional workflows.

Implementing RPA can be a highly rewarding and beneficial project for any organization. Plus, with the low or no-code automation platforms available, businesses can gain from RPA using tools that are easy to implement and require little or no additional development.
